my journey
i have been playing piano for over a decade and have been composing on-and-off for perhaps seven years. i've taken a number of long hiatuses so i haven't really seen much improvements in my skills until around 2021 when i moved from musescore to soundtrap and became deliberately more adventurous in my compositions. though composition has still since been a fairly inconsistent hobby, i've re-discovered a lot of passion for it in the spring of 2024. at the beginning of my musical journey, i began creating music exclusively for piano, but i drew more and more influences from electronic music as i dove more deeply into edm.
influences
i continue to compose in soundtrap and embrace an electronic sound influenced by the electronic-orchestral combinations of hybrid and above & beyond, the musical storytelling of toby fox, and the bright, eccentric VGM melodies of waterflame. i'm also influenced by progressive trance from 2000-2009, the neo-breakcore movement, the jazz- and reggae-infused punk of the police, and various osts (besides those of toby and waterflame). i love crazy ravey laser-light uplifting electronic as much as i love emotional soundtrack and singer-songwriter pieces, perhaps all for the same reasons. it's nice to make mundane life feel like a journey :) if i were to choose a musical role model, it'd likely be nourey.
